Disclaimer

Montana Hunting Report is an independent information service published by Montana Property Reports, LLC of Livingston, Montana. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the Montana State Library, the USDA Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Weather Service, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the National Interagency Fire Center, any tribal government, or any other agency.

Regulations and access

Hunting regulations, seasons, quotas, closures and license requirements are set by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and, on reservation lands, by tribal governments. This site summarizes and links to them; it does not replace them. Read the official regulations for your district before you hunt.

Ownership shown on the map comes from tax appraisal records and is approximate. Public ownership does not mean public access: some public land is closed to hunting, and some cannot be reached without crossing private land. A boundary on this map never grants permission to enter any land. Block Management Areas carry their own rules; follow each BMA's map and sign-in requirements.

Data

Figures come from public sources and are labeled as measured, calculated, estimated, forecast or unavailable. Harvest numbers are FWP estimates with sampling error and describe past seasons; they do not show where animals are now. Calculated values (public-land shares, elevations, rates) are approximate. Data can be late, incomplete or wrong; when a source fails the site says so rather than filling the gap.

Safety

Weather, snow, fire and road information is provided for context only. For decisions affecting your safety, rely on the National Weather Service, InciWeb and local fire authorities, Montana 511, and local officials.
