What we collect

The site has no accounts, no forms and no payments.

Analytics

We also use Google Analytics to count visits. It sets cookies so that one person moving between our sites is counted once rather than several times. You can block these with your browser settings or an ad blocker, and the site works normally without them.

Our analytics tag is served from montanareports.com itself and reports page views and which links you follow between our sites. Advertising features are switched off: Google Signals is off and ad personalization is off, so the data is not used to build an advertising profile of you. It never sends addresses, map coordinates, parcel numbers, owner names, email addresses, phone numbers, or anything you type into a search box. Those are blocked at the tag.

On this site the tag also records two kinds of interaction: whether a search for a district, town or county found a match, and the first time on a visit that you move the map, switch a layer or open a district. It records the kind of action only, never what you typed or where you clicked.

Preferences stored on your device

Your browser stores two preferences locally (theme and map layers) using local storage; they never leave your device. Searches and map clicks are answered by our server and are not stored with any identifier.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Fly.io) keeps standard request logs, including IP address and browser type, for operations and security. We do not combine them with any other data.

Third-party map resources

Your browser loads basemap tiles from OpenFreeMap and terrain tiles from Amazon Web Services' public Terrain Tiles dataset. Those providers receive the standard information any web request carries.
